IDEX 2017 – Call for Applications: PhD position in the field of economics and environmental science
Title of the project: Permanence in Economics, Social Preferences and Social Interactions – Application to environmental issues
The PhD project will contribute to understand permanence from an economic perspective integrating ecological aspects with the aim to improve in particular biodiversity conservation. The PhD student will be an economist and he or she will integrate ecological knowledge in the analysis – in particular with the support from the team. The main question of the PhD thesis would be to understand the effectiveness of incentives on both long-lasting cooperation and permanence from both the economic and ecological sides when looking at biodiversity conservation. The PhD candidate will benefit from a Co-tutelle agreement between University of Strasbourg (BETA) and the Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU) Cottbus-Senftenberg. This PhD project will be part of the joint research project PEPSI (Permanence in Economics, Social Preferences and Social Interactions) between the same partners plus Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research – UFZ. As the candidate will conduct his or her research in the PEPSI project, he or she will work with both the French and the German team and do the case studies in both countries. Approximately two third of the time, he or she will be based at BETA in France and one third at BTU in Germany.
