This lecture provides an overview of the key steps involved in designing original data collection. We will discuss how to move from a research question to a data collection plan, including the logic of sampling, questionnaire design, and basic principles for determining sample size. Ethical aspects and the role of pre-registration will also be briefly introduced. The goal is to provide doctoral students with a conceptual roadmap for planning rigorous and ethical fieldwork.
